Dr. Matthias C. Utesch

Dr. Matthias C. Utesch studied electrical engineering and information sciences at the Technical University in Munich where he received a Ph.D. in 1993. He also qualified as a Change Manager at the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, U.S. His interests are engineering and project management with the focus on quality, process management, IT and education.

He represents the German industry in the jury of the award “Deutscher Bildungsmedienpreis digita” for IT and education in cooperation with the Technical University Berlin. He is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Master and Bachelor in Information Systems and Management at the Munich University for Applied Sciences. There he is lecturing at the department of Computer Science and Mathematics. Together with his students he founded the e-learning portal “PSH” (project school/ higher education) as a test and show case for the new e-learning portal ZePeLin for Bavarian universities.

Since 1992 he has been working for Siemens AG, Germany. As a Vice President he was responsible for quality controlling and corporate responsibility projects until 2006. Now as a Principal Consultant for Corporate Social Responsibility he works as a consultant for ministries, agencies, universities and schools covering all aspects of quality management, education and blended learning from the design to the implementation and evaluation.

Matthias Utesch holds various international patents in computer engineering and IT design. In 2007 his design and the implementation of a pupils´ company at the Werner-von-Siemens School in Augsburg was selected as best practice for “performance and social values” within the value-based education initiative “Werte machen stark” of the Bavarian government. Since December 2007 he joined the Core Advisory Board of iClass as a representative of the Munich University of Applied Sciences, Germany.
